Hi, I’m Kristina

I’m the founder and owner of Trailhead Dog Training. I’ve been fascinated by the science and intricacies of the human-canine bond for most of my life and have been a “practicing” dog trainer since 2010. I am also a Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA), which is a credential that requires substantial experience and testing to obtain and continuing education to maintain. I’ve trained a wide spectrum of dogs, from reactive dogs that can’t step outside to service dogs that can calmly and confidently handle Disneyland. I relish how each dog brings new challenges and love the process of discovering what works for them as an individual.

My training is humane and science-based, centered around building behavior with positive reinforcement (food, toys, anything the dog enjoys) and working at the dog’s comfort level. I do not condone or practice any fear, pain, or intimidation-based training. My specialties are training service and therapy dogs, as well as puppy raising.

And because Dog People always want to know-the dogs I currently share my life with are Chester, a springer spaniel mix, Maya, a chow mix, and a rotating cast of service puppies in training. Together we enjoy Nosework, hiking in the foothills, and preventing squirrels from taking over the world.
